The second Conference on Applied Linguistics (CONAPLIN 2) takes The Role of Information and Communication Technologies in Language Studies, Language Education and Language Use as its theme.

Information and communication technology has affected almost all aspects of life including language studies, language education and language use. The advance of computer technology, for example, has made it possible for us to use a more precise and authentic language, more accurate and cheap language testing, faster translation, and more interesting and varied classroom activities. However, technology has also resulted in languages that we did not even think before, such as chatting, email, SMS and e-books as parts of our paperless culture. To this end, should we make sense and make the best use of language at work in our surrounding, we need to carry out comprehensive studies concerning language, language learning, and technology


IMPORTANT DATES
April 15, 2009: deadline of abstract submission.
June 19, 2009: notification of acceptance
July 23, 2009: deadline of complete paper submission.
July 29, 2009: deadline of participant registration.
August, 3 – 4 2009: conference days.

REGISTRATIONBoth paper presenters and seminar participants should register and pay the registration fee by 17 July 2009. The registration fee is:
1. Paper presenters: Rp. 200.000
2. Participants: (until 17 July 2009): Rp. 250.000,
At the conference: Rp. 300.000
3. S1/S2/S3 students (valid student ID needed): Rp. 150.000
4. SLTP/SMA teachers: Rp 225.000.00
5. Overseas participants: Rp 400.000 (or USD 40)

Papers and presentation can be in Bahasa Indonesia or in English.

1) to promote the application of linguistics studies in language teaching and learning
2) to explore the role of information and communication technology in language studies and language education.
3) to promote the use of ICT technology in other areas of language studies.
You are kindly invited to present papers on a relevant topic of your choice on one of the following areas:

1) Language studies
2) Language teaching
3) Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and Self-Access language Learning
4) Corpus linguistics
5) Machine translation, subtitle and dubbing
6) Computer-based language testing
7) Electronic dictionary development
8) Speech recognition

PAPERS
An abstract between 250 to 500 words should be sent to dsukyadi@upi.edu or didisukyadi@live.com as a .doc attachment and a separate page bearing the presenter’s name, degree, institution affiliation, office/mobile phone, and address should accompany the paper. Complete papers of approximately 6000 words (7-12 pages, font size 11, Times New Roman, single spaced, abstract with key words, and references; top and left margin 1.2 inch, bottom and right margin 1 inch) will be published in the conference CDs and be available to conference participants with additional charges.

Paper presentation will be 20 minutes plus 20 minutes for discussion. For presentation a laptop and an LCD viewer will be provided in each conference room and presenters are encouraged to prepare their presentation using Power Point
